How to calculate your age from your date of birth
Three steps, no sign-up, and it works the same on a phone or a computer.
Enter your date of birth
Tap the date of birth box and pick your date. On a phone this opens the built-in date picker.
Choose the date to measure to
It is set to today. Change it to see your age on any past or future date, such as a form's cut-off date.
Read your result
Your exact age appears at once, with the next birthday countdown, zodiac, planet ages and a share button.
How the age is worked out
The calculator uses the everyday system in which your age goes up on your birthday. It follows three simple steps, using calendar dates rather than rough averages:
- Full years: the number of birthdays you have had up to the chosen date.
- Full months: the months passed since your last birthday.
- Days: the days passed since the last month mark. If the chosen day of the month is earlier than your birth day, a month is borrowed and the days of the previous month are used.
Because it works from real dates, leap years and months of different lengths are handled automatically. The totals in hours, minutes and seconds are counted from whole days, so they are exact to the day, not to the minute you were born.
Calculate your age on a specific date
The second box, Age at the date of, is set to today but you can change it to any date. This is useful for:
- Job and exam forms. Many notifications ask for your age on a fixed cut-off date. Set the second box to that date and read the result. Always check the rule in the official notice.
- School and college admission. Check your age on the first day of the session.
- Insurance and policy forms. Find your age at a policy start date.
- Future milestones. See how old you will be on a wedding date, a retirement date or a family event.
- Past dates. Work out how old someone was when something happened.
What else does it show?
- Next birthday countdown in days, hours, minutes and seconds.
- Day of birth, so you can see whether you were born on a Monday or a Sunday.
- Zodiac sign and Chinese zodiac from your birth date.
- Leap days lived, which counts the 29 Februaries you have been through.
- Age on Mercury, Venus, Mars and Jupiter, based on how long each planet takes to circle the Sun.
- A life progress bar, a fun comparison with a 75-year lifespan.
- A one-tap share on WhatsApp, or copy the result.

Age systems around the world
Most countries count age the way this tool does: you turn a year older on your birthday. Some traditions count differently. In traditional East Asian age counting, a baby is one year old at birth and everyone gains a year at Lunar New Year. If a form uses a different system, follow the form's own rule.
Tips for accurate results
- Check the date format. The date picker shows dates in your device's own format. Tap it rather than typing to avoid mixing up day and month.
- Use the right target date. For forms, use the cut-off date and not today.
- Born on 29 February? The age is correct. In years without a leap day, the birthday countdown points to 1 March.
- Treat the extras as fun. Zodiac, planet ages, celebrity matches and life progress are for entertainment only.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate my age from my date of birth?
Enter your date of birth in the first box. The second box is already set to today, so your exact age appears straight away in years, months and days. You can also press Calculate.
How do I find my exact age in years, months and days?
The calculator counts the full years since your birth date, then the remaining full months, then the remaining days. For example, someone born on 10 March 2000 is 26 years, 7 months and 15 days old on 25 October 2026.
How do I calculate age on a specific date?
Change the Age at the date of box to any date, past or future. This is useful for forms that ask for your age on a cut-off date, such as the last date of an application or the first day of an academic year.
How do I check my age for a job or exam form with a cut-off date?
Enter your date of birth, then set Age at the date of to the cut-off date given in the notification. The result shows your age on that day, which is the age the form normally asks for. Always confirm the rule in the official notice.
Is this age calculator accurate? Does it handle leap years?
Yes. It uses calendar dates, so leap years and months of different lengths are handled correctly. Totals such as hours, minutes and seconds are counted from whole days, so they are exact to the day rather than to the minute you were born.
What if I was born on 29 February?
The age calculation works normally. In years that are not leap years, the next birthday countdown points to 1 March. The tool also shows how many leap days you have lived through.
Is my date of birth stored or uploaded?
No. The calculation runs in your browser and your date of birth is never sent to our server. For convenience, the date is remembered in your own browser on your own device, and the Clear button removes it.
How many days old am I?
Your total age in days is shown in the conversion list under the main result, along with the same age in months, weeks, hours, minutes and seconds.
How many days are left until my next birthday?
The Next birthday box shows a live countdown in days, hours, minutes and seconds. On your birthday it switches to a birthday message.
How is my age on other planets calculated?
Your age in Earth days is divided by the length of each planet's year. A year is about 88 Earth days on Mercury, 225 on Venus, 687 on Mars and 4,333 on Jupiter, so you are a much higher number on Mercury and a much lower one on Jupiter.
Is the Chinese zodiac result exact?
It is based on your calendar birth year. The Chinese year actually begins at Lunar New Year in January or February, so if you were born early in the year you may belong to the previous animal.
Can I calculate the time between two dates?
Yes. Put any start date in the date of birth box and any later date in the second box. The result is the time between them in years, months, days and smaller units.
Does the age calculator work on a phone?
Yes. It is built for phones, with large date fields that open your phone's own date picker and a result you can share on WhatsApp in one tap.
Is the life progress bar a medical prediction?
No. It is a simple fun estimate that compares your age with a 75-year lifespan. It says nothing about your health or how long you will actually live.
Is the age calculator free?
Yes. It is free, needs no account and has no limit on how many times you use it.
