Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam

India’s greatest Scientist, educationist Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was born on 15th October, 1931 at Dhanushkothi in the temple town Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu. His full name is Dr. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam. Dr. kalam was very good in studies. He passed the B.Sc. examination from Saint Joseph College. He was the first graduate in his family. After graduation he continued his study, attending Madras Institute of Technology (MIT). Dr. kalam started his career with Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) in the year 1958. Then in 1963 he joined Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). He was the part of India’s missile programmes and known as the Missile Man of India. Later he was elected as 12th President of India. He had huge contribution In India’s nuclear experiment. Beside love for his work he had great fondness for music. He was a spiritual person and a great follower of both Quran and Gita. Dr. Kalam breathed his last in July 27, 2015 at Shilong.

Rabindranath Tagore

A great poet and an educationist, Rabindranath Tagore was a versatile genius and a legend in his lifetime. He was born at Jorasanko, Kolkata on 7 May 1861 to Debendranath Tagore and Srimati Sarada Devi in a Zamindar family, known for their cultural talent. A born genius, Rabindranath Tagore was a poet from his boyhood. He blossomed into a versatile writer who wrote novels, dramas, essays, short stories and songs. His best work was Gitanjali which fetched him the Nobel Prize for literature in 1913. He was the first to win the Nobel from Asia. A keen educationist, he set up Viswabharati and Shantiniketan. He was a campaigner of universal brotherhood. Rabindranath Tagore, died on 7 August 1941. His death left a vacant in the field of literature that can never be filled.
