Birbhum 16th JUNE :Wide areas of ( a ) District experienced a severe flood on ( ) . The flood was caused by a heavy rainfall for the last seven days . Rivers were over flown by the heavy downpour . The people of the flood hit areas were in extremely distress situation and in huge damage to life and property . As a result numerous trees were uprooted . At least 1lakh people were effected badly and atleast about 20 thousands of houses were partly damaged and atleast hundred of houses were completely destroyed . The flood affected people took shelter at a high altitude areas . Communication services have been disrupted leaving a number of people . Stranded , rescue and relief operation were being undertaken on a war footing . Foods , clothes , drinking water , doctors with medical team and other necessary things have been sent to the effected areas . The Chief Minister has reviwed the situation and assured the effected people of all help . About Army Jawans have reached in the effected areas for relief operation .
